Projects in the works

Our diverse team is always ready for new and challenging opportunities.  We are excited to announce projects on the horizon at JDR Engineering.

Just to name a few....

  • UW Extension | Lowell Center Renovation
Partnered with Destree Design Architects, Inc., JDR is providing mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering services for the renovation of the Lowell Center. University of Wisconsin-Extension Conference Centers (ECC) provides complete conference center facilities as well as distance education services and technologies to the 26 UW System institutions, state agencies, and various other educational or governmental organizations. The Lowell Center, housed within Lowell Hall provides lodging for overnight guests.

A recent space needs assessment determined the need for additional guest rooms were needed to retain current customers and attract larger conference bookings. Underutilized office space will be converted to guest rooms that will generate more revenue without adding new square footage.

JDR provided engineering design services in 2010, at which time, several floors of office space in the north wings were converted into 52 additional guest rooms, bringing the guest room total to 134. JDR is excited to be involved again providing engineering design services for this newest renovation project. This project will renovate office space  on the fourth floor to create 19 guest rooms in the Lowell Center's northh wings. Additionally, the project will renovate office space on teh second and third floors. HVAC systems, electrical, plumbing and fire protestion systems will be upgraded to meet the needs of the renovated space.

Soon to be a National Historical Landmark, this turn of the century building is being redeveloped and renovated into an artisan food processing facility surrounded by retail, offices, event space, demonstration gardens, and 50 microlodges.  JDR is teaming with design-build partners H&H Industries (HVAC) and Hill Electric (Electrical) to provide the HVAC and Electrical design engineering for the project developer, Baum Revision. Madison-based general contractor, Bachmann Construction is leading the $19.8 million renovation building project bringing new life to this iconic building located on Madison's near east side.
JDR is teamed with the Belz Architecture/Belz Construction out of Memphis,TN to design the second Interstate Blood Bank located in Madison.  The project is located in the heart of downtown Madison on N. Henry Street.
This building is home to the UW Plasma Group and home to Plasma Dynamo Experiment (MPDX), a first of its kind in the world, and used to simulate the earth's magnetic field. JDR is excited to provide MEP engineering services to renovate and make building modifications to accommodate the Terrestial Reconnection Experiment (TREX).
